Goodwin's Mills Fire-Rescue serves the towns of Dayton and Lyman, Maine. On October 8th, 2001 they were called to a motor vehicle accident, reported with serious injuries.
Lt. Dupras reports:
"Upon arrival we were presented with 2 vehicles that hit head on and 'meshed' together. One vehicle had a single occupant who was deceased, and the other vehicle had 2 people who were trapped with serious injuries. Using our Holmatro cutter we were able to gain rapid access to the patients by removing the roof and removing the entire sides of the car. One patient was extricated at this time but the driver was pinned by the dash. Using our Holmatro spreader and chain tips we were able to conduct a quick dash roll and free the person. Our department has been using Holmatro tools for over 10 years and their light-weight and quick cutting and spreading capabilities have enabled our department to perform numerous tough extrications with good results."
