A single vehicle, one occupant accident in which a car went off the right side of the road. The driver, a 70 year old woman, then lost control of the 1996 four-door sedan which rolled over once coming to rest on its wheels in a potato field. The roof of the vehicle was crushed in pinning the driver inside the vehicle.
“Captain Pelletier after completing his cuts and removing the roof with the help of Don, Andre, and Mike…noticed that the B Post was moving in on the patient and getting very close. He instructed me to stop and to attack the Nader pin instead. I can’t stress enough how important it is to have a second pair of eyes to watch over what is happening to the car as it is being dismantled. We did get the door off and quickly loaded the patient on to a long board, then into the ambulance…In talking with a bystander at the scene, he told me that it took about 8-9 minutes from the first cut to the door dropping to the ground.”
