Jim Pratt FF Kevin Johnson FF George Filipos "On Feb. 5, 1999 10:32PM, the West Mead (PA) #2 VFD was called by the Blooming Valley VFD for a rescue assist to a motor vehicle accident involving a Chevy 1/2 ton 4x4 pickup truck and a Penndot (PA Dept. of Trans.) snowplow which was struck from the rear by the pickup." "Upon arrival on scene we were informed that the patient was a Class 1 and trapped by the steering column and dash. With the use of our Holmatro spreader, cutter and rams we removed the driver's door, roof, rolled the dash and extricated the patient in 14 minutes from arrival on scene. Because of the ease of use of our Holmatro tools and adding a travel time of 11 minutes, the patient was removed in 25 minutes from time of dispatch, well within the Golden Hour for trauma patients. The patient was flown by Stat MedEvac to the nearest trauma center and has since made a complete recovery."
